The 1st International Conference on Go Studies, organized by the International Society of Go Studies, was successfully held on August 31st at the Creative Hall, at Myongji University’s Natural Science Campus in Yongin. President Nam Chihyeong warmly welcomed participants from around the world during her opening speech.

Previously, the Worldwide Iwamoto Awards served that role, and its discontinuation has left a void.

The application period for the presentation of the 1st ISGS Conference was closed yesterday. Researchers from many countries, including Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, Germany, the United States, and France, have applied, and the research topics are very diverse. I am sure the conference will be very interesting.

박정채 회장은 현재 ㈜진남토건과 진남개발의 CEO이며, (재)한국기원 이사, (사)대한바둑협회 이사직을 맡고 있다. 2020년 7월 ~ 2022년 6월까지 국제바둑연맹(IGF) 회장직을 역임했으며, 여수시의회에서 5선 의원을 지내고, 시의회 의장으로 내리 4선을 역임했고, 의장 임기 중 ‘여수 엑스포’를 유치해 성공리에 개최했다.

제12회 일요신문배 대만·싱가폴 등 5개국 어린이 참가…“한류 영향으로 아시아 전역서 한국 인기” [일요신문] 회를 거듭할수록 규모가 커지고 있는 일요신문배 어린이 바둑대회는 올해 ‘세계로 미래로’라는 슬로건을 내걸고 아시아 어린이들을 특별 초청해 함께 기량을 겨뤘다. 이번 대회에는 최근 바둑붐이 일고 있는 태국을 비롯해 대만, 싱가폴, 몽골, 일본 등 5개국 어린이들이 참가했다.
