박정채 전 국제바둑연맹 회장

박정채 회장은 현재 ㈜진남토건과 진남개발의 CEO이며, (재)한국기원 이사, (사)대한바둑협회 이사직을 맡고 있다. 2020년 7월 ~ 2022년 6월까지 국제바둑연맹(IGF) 회장직을 역임했으며, 여수시의회에서 5선 의원을 지내고, 시의회 의장으로 내리 4선을 역임했고, 의장 임기 중 ‘여수 엑스포’를 유치해 성공리에 개최했다.
중국의 양저우(揚州), 일본의 가라쓰(唐津), 한국의 여수 등 3개 도시를 통해 ‘한•중•일 3개국 교류전’을 20년 넘게 이어오고 있으며, ‘한국여자바둑리그’ 여수팀과 ‘루키리그’를 후원하는 등 바둑보급을 활발하게 펼치고 있다. 또한 장학재단을 설립해 25년째 지역 청소년들에게 장학금을 지원하고 있다.
아마 5단 기력의 바둑고수인 그는, 바둑이야말로 국제적인 의사소통과 교류의 수단으로 부족함이 없고, 나이는 물론 인종과 언어, 종교를 초월해 남녀노소 누구나 즐길 수 있다는 점이 바둑의 가장 큰 매력이며, 향후 아시안게임 정식 종목을 넘어 올림픽 정식 종목 입성을 위한 교두보를 마련하는 것이 국제바둑학회의 중요한 과제 중 하나라 여기고 있다.

Chairman Park Jungchae is currently the CEO of Jinnam Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd. and Jinnam Development Co., Ltd., and serves as a director of Korea Baduk Association and a director of Korea Baduk Federation. From July 2020 to June 2022, he served as the president of the International Go Federation (IGF), served as a member of the Yeosu City Council for the fifth term, served as the chairman of the city council for the fourth term, and hosted the 'Yeosu Expo' successfully during his tenure as chairman.
The 'Korea, China, and Japan Friendly Match' has been held for over 20 years through three cities: Yangzhou in China, Karatsu in Japan, and Yeosu in Korea. He actively spreads Go by sponsoring the 'Rookie League' and the team Yeosu in the ‘Korean Women’s Baduk League’. He also established a scholarship foundation and has been providing scholarships to local youth for 25 years.
He who is 5 dan Go player thinks that the greatest attraction of Go is that it is a means of international communication and exchange that is not lacking, and that it can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of age, race, language, or religion. It is considered as one of the important tasks of the International Baduk Society to prepare a bridgehead for entry into an official Olympic event beyond the Asian Games official event.
